One day in the life of GGL Pet Services
7.00 get up, yawn stretch shower brew.
7.30 log on, and check emails.
8.00 Watch Dallas on CBS Drama whilst getting files out for my days work and making my lunch for the day ahead.
8.30 Boo is a Labrador and is dropped off for Daycare, he comes to me every now and again when his owner has meetings and cannot take Boo. He is socialised with other dogs and various animals, as well as people, as his owner works for the RSPB. Today he will be my companion in all my endevours. Because he is a very socialised dog and I usually take him to all my dog walks and even to my moms when I have to visit. Today though, he is going to be spending most of the day with his favourite friend Lola who you will meet later this morning.
9.00 Up to Liza’s for my first walk of the day to wake me up. Liza is a very bouncy Terrier, she is a rescue dog and has only been with her current owners for 3 weeks, she is jumping up and down in anticipation of her morning walk. I walk Liza twice a day every day (Mon – Fri) for 1 hour a time. Off we go, a short walk down to my house where I collect Boo and Missy, leads in hand, adjusted and…. Gate open. Here we go. Onto the bridle way just across the road and along the canal. All the dogs are really good and walk well together, I let Missy off the lead as she is my dog and used to walking the bridle ways, I wont say her behaviour is impecable but we manage. She is also a rescue dog who I have had for about 3 years now, she is described by theManchesterdogs home as a Chiwawa crossbreed, (you can see the picture, form your own opinion)! On the way back, I drop Missy and Boo back home and then continue on with Liza.
10.00 Liza back home, Pet log sheet updated with times and events so that her owner can see what she has been doing on her walk, how she has behaved and any other events worth noting.
10.30am a quick drive to Lola’s ‘oh yes Lola’ another bouncy dog but this one is another labrador, 12 months of age. I have been looking after Lola since September last year. Lola will be spending the day at my house today. I look after lola every Tue and Thursday normally I will look after lola at her own home nipping out, or taking her with me to other appointments, but today, as I have Boo this is not possible, so she is getting a trip out. She has been to my house before on a few occassions and she has met Boo before also. I open the door and Lola comes bounding, licking and jumping up, I manage to get in the door and give cuddles before collecting her dinner and her Kong Treat Ball. Lead on, in the car, first stop the big field at the end of the road, Lola will chase sticks, stones, balls anything that is thrown for her, she loves to run around this field and it also helps dispell a little tiny bit of energy, believe me Lola rarely tires. Lola has a 30-40 min run before we hop back in the car and take the short drive to my house.
12.00 Boo and Lola are playing tug of war whilst missy is sat upstairs away from the comotion of the two big doggies which don’t seem to want to listen to her objections to their games. I am checking my emails and looking at my website analytics, you know all the boring office and paperwork stuff. Now where is my Lunch.
1.00 I separate Boo and Lola for some rest time, they are both tired from playing and I can tell they both need a rest, Lola objects, but needs must. I separate them and wait for them to regain composure then its dinner time for Lola, and im off for my next dog walk.
1.30 I have decided not to take Boo on this walk as he has had an hours walk this morning and then playtime with lola, he needs some time out now. I arrive at Jinx’s my favourite Tibetan Terrier, he is an absolute darling, I walk Jinx for 30 mins Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but today is an exception to that. I open the door and i am greeted by Jinx who is as usual barking at me, he only stops barking when he gets his cuddles and kisses. I grab his lead, and rubber chicken, off we go, this walk is around the park. Jinx goes off lead in the park as he is a very obedient dog, plus if you have his rubber chicken he wont go far. We play fetch, the grass is wet and water logged in some places but Jinx is unphased by this, he is running over it chasing his toy and sticks which I am throwing for him. When we get back, he is quite wet and muddy, so I have to dry him down with his towel, he gets his water topped up and even more cuddles. After filling in the daily pet log with times and events of the walk, I leave ensuring the house is secured and make my way back home.
2.30 Lola and Boo are both well rested, I bring them back together and off they go again, more tug of war and play fighting, they are so amazing together, they get along so well and it is so nice to watch them play, although every now and again I do have to clap my hands and shout STOP or make a silly noise to grab their attention, lola gets quite amerous and I have to remind her that she is a lady and should not make rude guestures at Boo.
3.30 dogs seperated again and now im back at Liza’s for her second walk of the day, Missy has come with me and we all toddle off back down to the bridle path, another 1 hour walk finished, I update the pet log and leave ensuring the house is secured.
4.45 I Gather up Lola’s Kong Ball and pet log sheet, outlining her anticks and behaviour, attach her lead and prepare to take her home. She has a 30 min walk on the bridlepath before leaving. This walk is easy as Lola is tiring from her days events and is not wanting to run or bounce half as much.
5.30 back home and Boo is collected by his owner whom he is more than happy to see……off they go until next time.
6.00 Tonight I have to go to the stables to muck out and feed my horse Amy, Karen my friend normally looks after and rides my horse for me but on occasions she cannot get up, this is when I come in, I am tiring my self now, and looking forward to my evening meal which I have yet to cook, so I quickly do my jobs settle the horse down for the night, bigs hugs and kisses and Im going home for that long awaited Glass of Wine….. or 2. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
